Text Effect

Hi

how can I create a test effect with a angled reflective shine like that on iOS6 at http://www.apple.com/uk/ios/ios6/

I'm aware they probably did this in illustrator. Was wondering how close I could get to creating this using powerpoint and the office suite.

Hello,

You could use a text box for the text, then add a shape with a gradient fill with a white center that fades out to transparent towards the top and the bottom. Slant the shape to suit.

See attached for a first, rather crude, approach. With more fine-tuning of the gradient fill of the overlaying shape, you should be able to achieve the desired effect.

cheers, teylyn

Have you explored the wordart?

You can change the reflections, colors, etc. You can also add a picture for the backgroud.

I'd probably apply the Opulent theme to a new, blank deck. Then I'd select or create a new color theme on the Colors dropdown on the Design tab.

To create the shape, I'd insert a rounded rectangle and apply the formatting from the last row of the Shape Styles gallery on the Drawing Tools Format tab, because it has this kind of reflection already built into its effects. From there I'd tweak the gradient as necessary.

Finally, I'd paste that shape into my own deck and choose "keep source formatting" upon paste.
