Mac permission issues on Windows network
Problem:
• Mac users are having trouble creating, editing file names, moving files across the network. File server is Windows based. Issue is intermittent, not consistent. Users will receive dialogue box prompting for a username and password.
NOTE*** This was not an issue when files were stored on a Mac server, problems started happening when that server was removed from the network and files were transferred to a Windows box.
This only happens to Mac users, Windows users are perfectly fine. What am I missing here?

Are the Mac workstations bound to your Active Directory domain, or do you not use AD? What version of OS X are they running? Are the Mac users connecting via smb or cifs?
ASKER
Where can I check to see if users are connecting via smb or cifs? All Macs are on the domain and they're running version 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.
