Adding a DAE tray to existing EMC VNX5300 SAN would you expand the pool or create new

Hello EE,

When you add a DAE to an existing EMC VNX5300, we currently have a pool 0 with user capacity 4286.355.  We are running out of space so I am adding the DAE and wondering given I am running out of space would I be best to expand pool 0 or are there issues with having one larg pool?

Thanks

There are advantages to running separate pools. Depending on the number of drives you're buying, I'd be inclined to create a second pool so that you can plan for future requirements. The next release of FLARE code adds some really strong functionality that will improve efficiency of your array. It's due out very soon, so it would be good if you can hang out a little longer before configuring the pool.

This is the first expansion to the EMC VNX 5300 so will be adding 15 disks on this tray.
What are some of the advantages?  Can you elaborate on future requirements?
Our pool is almost full so we really can't wait to add disk.  Would you still be inclined to create a secondary pool?  What is your take on pros/cons?

If I create another pool then I can  make that a new datastore and move some VMs to it thus creating more space on pool0 though couldn't I be more likely to get myself in a situation where I have 2 pools running out of space?
