Did you install updates including a kernel update? Can't test this for you but this looks just like your issue: http://beginlinux.com/server_training/serv_admin_m/grub
Are you purposely leaving out some info?
It looks to me like you have a dual-boot system with Ubuntu.

i had did yum update and rebooted the server after that it wont come on just on the Gnu Grub screen. I have just followed the tutorial from http://beginlinux.com/server_training/serv_admin_m/grub but i just keep getting error saying no such file in directory is it possible to recover all files and database from this hard drive to a new hard drive?
How about we see if you still have a recognized file system.
Type this at the grub> prompt:
grub>root

Hopefully you get a response like this:
(hd0,0): Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83

If you receive a response, then try:
grub>find (hd0,0) /grub/grub.conf

*(replace (hd0,0) with your particular output.

Please post your finding.
CentOS and Ubuntu use totally different versions of GRUB.

I'm clicking Unmonitor
<- over there, now.
when i tried root from the grub prompt i got (fd0): Filesystem type is fat, partition type 0xb
i am runing centos 6
i ran find (fd0) //grub/grub.conf and i got file not found
i was able to load a centos live cd to be able to retrive my files and database files but i could not locate my files / sites created with cpanel whm. i see the files in the hard drives but cant find my website datat stored on the hard drive. Please help
Boot of a live CD and see if you can see your data then copy it off that way, once you have the data best start again, you probably will anyway later on.
i cant find my site files in the hard drive thou
You do have a weird setup though, the grub error you posted mentioned ubuntu but you say you use centos, I didnt read anything above about site files!

have you tried; find / -name "*sitefiles*"

i copied the the error message from the internet because its the same error just name difference. The hard drive is already mounted i was able to find my cpanel files and database files but not particularly my sites.

I tried navigating to /etc/fstab no directory like that on the hard drive or live cd
the home directory is empty
i ended up losing all files and starting over.
Thanks
