RWW and printing

Hi,
I have Windows 7 32bit PC with HP Officejet Pro 8600 All-in-One printer at a remote office and the printer folder shows (1) FAX and (2) HP Officejet Pro 8600.
This user connects to her computer in the main office (XP Pro SP3) via RWW connection (https://remote.domainname.com/remote) and there is no problem there.
When she logs into her main office PC and open the printers folder, it only shows one printer - "FAX (from Remote Win7 PC)".
Why does it show only FAX (from Remote PC) and not the HP Officejet Pro 8600 (from Remote Win7 PC) that I need?
I wanted to install HP Officejet Pro 8600 on the main office PC (XP Pro), so I downloaded the driver. However this EXE install program keeps asking me to connect the USB cable to the printer or find the printer thru the network. It does not let me choose LPT1. I was hoping to change the port from LPT1 to  HP Officejet Pro 8600 (from Remote Win7 PC) if I can just install the driver.

 Can you help?

Check the user logon account
You should see settings to connect client drives and client printers

You don't need to do anything with ports to make this work, all you need to do is install the driver for that printer on the XP host.  Download the EXE installer from here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-97860-2&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=228&product=4323648&sw_lang=
Run through the setup, when it asks to connect by USB or search the network, choose the third option 'Connect Printer Later' and finish the install.

You don't need to set ports or anything, this happens automatically when the client connects in.
This is the best money I have ever spent. I cannot not tell you how many times these folks have saved my bacon. I learn so much from the contributors.

I chose that option "connect printer later". But it does not create  HP8600 in the printer folder.
Like you said, that is typically what I do. Install the printer drive as if it is local LPT1 or USB first. Then when I make the remote connection, then I go to the port tab of the printer and change the port to "redirected xxx".
But this EXE does NOT create a printer icon in the host computer.

The hp8600 all-in-one printer is located in off-site office and the printer has been installed and working properly. That computer has Windows 7.
The main office computer with XP that they try to connect via RWW and RDP does NOT have hp8600 in the printer's folder.
I can try your suggestion as to extracting driver files using RAR and point to the specific folder on XP machine. But I am afraid that I may screw up the printer (at off-site office) if I delete current printer in Windows 7 PC. Do I have to delete HP8600 from Win7 PC?

I would advise you do so.  The aim here is to ensure that both ends have exactly the same driver installed, hence we delete the printers and start from a clean sheet.  There's no reason why deleting a printer should screw anything up, you can always reinstall the printer?

since it is all in kne printer, it may be more than just deleting and reinstalling.

It's not necessary to think of it as an all-in-one printer - it's a scanner, a fax machine and a printer.  It's the printer you're having trouble with at the moment, right?  I'd imagine deleting the printer wouldn't affect the scan and fax functions, which can be installed individually anyway.
