The digital signature of this USB device could not be verified... (Code 52)

I have a Dell PowerEdge R515 server (with an AMD Opteron processor), running Windows Server 2008 R2, SP1. I have connected several different USB devices to this server and they all show the same error in the Device Manager: The digital signature for this device could not be verified... (Code 52). Is it the server or Windows?  I have searched for drivers for my Toshiba and Western Digital external hard drives, but haven't found any as they are supposed to be plug-and-play.

I just checked on a non-production server, and that option is there to "Disable driver signing checking".  I will schedule a maintenance window for this weekend and see if that resolves the issue.  Thanks, I will let you know.

Digging a little deeper (checking the Event Logs and stuff) I discovered another piece to this puzzle, a Kernal-PnP error:  THe driver \Driver\AFAmgt failed to load for the device...

Means that USB driver for your USB controller is corrupt imo. Try to remove the USB devices in Device Manager and restart the machine. Then it will fresh install them.

Thank you for your comments.  Due to the server being in production, it will be after hours one night next week before I can try them out.
