Bain Hypocrisy?

Should Obama return donations from Bain?

President Obama Won’t Be Returning His Donations From Bain Capital

Though the Obama campaign has repeatedly attacked Mitt Romney for his career at Bain Capital, President Obama still accepted $7,500 in campaign contributions from two Bain executives. His campaign press secretary, Ben LaBolt told The Politicker the president has no intention of giving the money back.

Should he also scour his campaign contributions to turn down all money coming from people who work for Staples?

Should Romney send back every check from any person who is a member of a Union?

The ONLY reason we even know about this, is because it came from two private individuals....not a "Super PAC", otherwise the donations would be anonymous.

Here's what we know:

1.  Obama buys his office supplies from Staples (Bain success story)
2.  Obama accepts donations from Bain
3.  A top Obama bundler, Jonathan Lavine, was in charge of Bain during layoffs.

And yet Obama goes around ripping Bain.

How is that not hypocrisy?
>>1.  Obama buys his office supplies from Staples (Bain success story)

Staples actually provides a real service (retail) as opposed to Bain which is just a "money-shuffler"

>>2.  Obama accepts donations from Bain

No. Obama accepted donations from people who worked at Bain. At last check in this country, your employer could not force who you could support.

>>3.  A top Obama bundler, Jonathan Lavine, was in charge of Bain during layoffs.

Again, your employer cannot force who you support.

Would Mitt turn away money from someone who works at Planned Parenthood?
>>Would Mitt turn away money from someone who works at Planned Parenthood?

I doubt Romney would take money from executives of Planner "baby killing" Parenthood.

This is not a question of "can he" but rather "should he."  He being Obama.
>>I doubt Romney would take money from executives of Planner "baby killing" Parenthood.

And you base this statement that Romney would turn away the money on what exactly?

Also, no other organization is described by an activity that they perform less than 4% of the their time. Conservatives never can seem to grasp that about PP.
So if I worked for Planned Parenthood and sent money to Mitt Romney, you think he would send it back to me?

Likely he would never bother to research WHO I work for, as a private citizen donating money to his campaign it would be considered irrelevant ...unless I was someone of importance or very controversial.

It's absurd... truly.

If you went through the list of "EVERYONE" who has sent money to either campaign, you'll find all sorts of people of questionable character or who you might otherwise assume should be opposed to their platform.

Also, ...Obama isn't attacking Bain.  He's attacking Romney's record at Bain, and his failure to disclose his finances from that time period, while simultaneously insisting that his experience at Bain Capital... qualifies him to handle the economy.
>>So if I worked for Planned Parenthood and sent money to Mitt Romney, you think he would send it back to me?

Perhaps you should re-read what I said.

>>If you went through the list of "EVERYONE" who has sent money to either campaign, you'll find all sorts of people of questionable character

Exactly - Bill Maher and his $1 million donation.  Uses the word "cunt" to describe women.

>>He's attacking Romney's record at Bain,

No he's not.  Romney had a great track record at Bain.  Lots of businesses saved.   Great example of capitalism.
Businesses saved?.... by cutting jobs and sending the labor overseas?

...highly debatable, "great record at Bain", since he won't disclose his finances from that time period.  If he received millions in bonuses for outsourcing and slashing the workforce/benefits/pensions..., as is typical of Corporate takeover companies, then that is exactly the kind of thing that Obama would like to exploit.  Putting shareholders profits, and CEO bonuses over people isn't exactly going to be viewed positively by the general public.
>>Putting shareholders profits, and CEO bonuses over people isn't exactly going to be viewed positively by the general public.

Exactly the problem. While it is all legal and good for business, Mitt is trying to get elected President.

The masses won't like this.
>>...highly debatable, "great record at Bain", since he won't disclose his finances from that time period.

Who cares about his tax records?  His tenure at Bain showed great success in the businesses saved.  How many jobs were saved by Bain's help?

>>by cutting jobs and sending the labor overseas?

You think these are the companies Obama invests in?
WASHINGTON EXAMINER: Obama has investments in companies that ship jobs overseas

Or you think Obama's job's dude, GE CEO, who has have his workforce overseas, has anything to do with it?  Obama has invested billions in them and thus jobs overseas.
"Who cares about his tax records?"

....about 100 million Americans.

If he's going to center his campaign around his "business experience" and "success", then I think America has every right to know every detail about it...including his foreign investments and offshore accounts.
>>America has every right to know every detail about it

I would like to see Obama's college records, as would a lot of other people.  I would also like Obama to release the Fast and Furious documents.

>>including his foreign investments and offshore accounts.

Both Obama and the DNC chair have these.  What's your point?  Obama and DNC chair are not fit to serve because they have investments overseas?

Obama wants Romney's tax records so he can distort them.  Obama and his supporters hate those who achieve.
I'm sorry, ...I missed the part where Obama was centering his campaign on how well he did in college.

Fast and Furious under Bush or Obama?

Obama has offshore accounts?...that would be news to me.  It's common knowledge that Romney hides his money in the Caymans, heck Republicans brag about how smart he is for doing it.

Not sure how you can distort black and white numbers on a peice of paper detailing finances.

If you'r a logical person... the only reason for Romney not to release it, is that whatever it contains will do more damage to his chances than whatever speculation can be made about what it "might" contain.
>>I would like to see Obama's college records, as would a lot of other people.  I would also like Obama to release the Fast and Furious documents.

That's good. Unfortunately more people want to see Romney's taxes than Obama's school records. Most also have no idea what F & F is about other than a racing movie.

Your problem is you are arguing over what is right and what it all should be about. The reality is none of that will have anything to do with the election.

To the average voter, all of this just makes Romney look bad and that is why he will lose.
"Obama wants Romney's tax records "

...so did Romney's opponents in the primary.
>>If you'r a logical person... the only reason for Romney not to release it, is that whatever it contains will do more damage to his chances than whatever speculation can be made about what it "might" contain.

That's what everyone else thinks too:

Erin Burnett To Romney: Release Your Tax Returns Unless You're 'Stupid' (VIDEO) : http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/17/erin-burnett-romney-tax-returns-stupid_n_1679027.html

I'm sure a lot of things are news to you.  That's why you support Obama.

>>Most also have no idea what F & F is about other than a racing movie.

That's because the liberal media covers for Obama.

>>Fast and Furious under Bush or Obama?

Release the records and let's find out.

It would be a mistake for Romney to release his tax records.  Obama would take the info and distort/lie as he did with Bain.  His supporters are so uninformed, naive, and stupid that they'll not know the difference.
>>His supporters are so uninformed, naive, and stupid that they'll not know the difference.

Correction would be "The general voting public are so uninformed, naive, and stupid that they'll not know the difference."
Why is the Romney Campaign Talking So Crazy? - The Daily Beast : http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/07/18/romney-campaign.html

While 51% of liberal Democrats feel strongly favorably toward Obama's campaign, just 31% of conservative Republicans feel the same about Romney's bid.

It's probably hopeless by now to try to excite the GOP's conservative base about Romney, not only because of ideology, but even more because of sociology. Romney's life, career, and manner all combine to remind the white working class why their parents and grandparents voted Democratic.

But what can be done is to rev up fear and dislike of the president. Which is what is happening.

Last month's pundit wisdom was that it was President Obama who had no choice but to go negative: Like George W. Bush in 2004, Obama has a weak re-elect narrative, and must therefore define his opponent as unacceptable.

All true.

But his opponent has exactly the same problem!
Just heard Donald Trump in an interview.

"Obama is the least transparent president in history"
>>Just heard Donald Trump in an interview.

LOL. There is someone with a real grip on reality and who holds a lot of respect!

See ID: 38200083

Can you clarify this for us please Eric, and hold the condescension this time?  ID 38200083 and the link it contains say nothing about Obama having offshore accounts.

Ty
Least transparent in history?

Wiki "First Days": Obama reduced the secrecy given to presidential records,[121] and changed procedures to promote disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act.

He also signed The Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007.

The Stimulus also has a website that allows you to track every dollar.
www.recovery.gov

...so which president was more transparent than Obama?
>>ID 38200083 and the link it contains say nothing about Obama having offshore accounts.

Mistake on my end.

>>Least transparent in history?

Correct.

1.  Obama administration did everything they could to keep the WH visitors log secret.
2.  Wouldn't reveal details on debt meetings.
3.  Hiding Fast and Furious documents
4.  Won't release his college transcripts
5.  Health care bill was done behind closed doors
6.  Obama administration constantly denies FOIA requests
7.  Lack of transparency on health care reform waivers
8.  Lack of transparency on stimulus spending
9. Dems object to GOP gov't transparency probe

So yes, there's little transparent about this administration.
