Outlook 2010 Crashing consistently When Using AutoCard

We recently did a hardware refresh for PC's in the office using Dell Precision T3500's with Xeon Dual Core W3503 2.40GHz Processors, 6 GB Memory 7,500 RPM SATA Drives running Windows 7 Pro 64x.  We are using Office 2010 and AutoCad Inventor/Mechanical 2010.  Outlook is a POP account to PST file. When running AutoCad and Outlook at the same time, we experience crashing in Outlook continually on two of the PC's. We have Avast! Internet Secuirty running with many exclusions set for AutoCad and other programs. We are looking for a solution to run both Outlook and AutoCad without Outlook crashing continually.

have you tried re-applying the image to those workstations to see if the problem goes away?

If this still does not work I would recommend uninstalling Outlook/Office and re-installing. The only reason to re-install Office instead of AutoCAD is because of how long AutoCAD takes to uninstall and re-install.

We never implemented an image.  these are clean installs of Office and AutoCad. We have reinstalled both and also installed office 2010 64 bit edition as an added option.
if you run the computer in safe mode do you still have the problem of Outlook crashing?
We cannot test in safe mode completely because network connections is disabled and the users cannot work on the shares to access the CAD drawings.  Add-ins are all disabled
ensure that the latest updates are installed for all software:

Autodesk Inventor:

AutoCAD Mechanical:

Microsoft Update:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/redir/XT101808448.aspx

I would also try a good working user account from different workstation to see if its possible that the user account is causing the problems
We are running Windows 7 in selective Startup and running Outlook in Safe mode now. Awaiting results.

My first thought is Memory how intesive are the AutoCAD / Inventor models that are being used. Both Outlook and Autodesk Inventor / AutoCAD are huge memory hogs and will easily use the 6 gig of ram you have designed into the system. Can you test one of the machines with at least 8 gig of ram? My inventor design station has 24 gig of ram in it and I will ustilise 10-12 gig of that ram when working on large top level assemblies. This said your version of Autodesk software can be installed as either 32bit or 64bit this will effect the software's ability to utilize any additional ram. Do you know if you implimented the 64bit installer for 2010? Same with office it can be installed as either 32bit or 64bit. Also I completely agree with silverkorn that the updates are crucial. Good luck let me know if this helps

Check the event logs and see if that will give a clue as to why they are crashing. I do not know about AutoCad Inventor/Mechanical but you cannot install Acad on a 64 bit system without the 64 bit version of Acad. At least I couldn't :) Acad installer came up and complained.
