Lenovo Rescue and Recovery application - MBR risk

I am now installing Lenovo Rescue and Recovery application - from ThinkPad toolbox.
First it seemed to have hung.
A black window appeared but has nothing in it.
It is labelled C:\SWTOOLS\apps\rnr_scu_driver_patch\lenstall.exe.
I found the reference on the web http://support.lenovo.com/es_AR/downloads/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-62978
That window has now disappeared but the installation has finished.
I don't want to initiate R and R after restarting because it looks as if I might not be able to restart without repairing the MBR, which is a problem I do not want.
What should I do please?

I don't really want to close this, but it's forcing me to give a grade.
Thank you for all of this.
I don't see the point of putting the backup in the same partition, or on the same disk. I have got a USB backup disk.
It looks as if R and R will not do a HDD backup which would be ideal.
Can R&R make a bootable HD copy?
I am inclined to try it , and then probably use Acronis though which product I am not sure of.
I also have off-site backups made of My Documents via Storage Guardian which I think is very good.
Can R&R make a bootable HD copy?

More or less, yes. It makes a backup and then F11 invokes the recovery partition to get things started. If you have Acronis, back up with Acronis first (not after) in case something goes wrong. You can always ask another question here. Thanks.

if you don't have Acronis, i suggest the free Paragon B&R : http://www.paragon-software.com/home/db-express/
