Switch from Windows 7 Professional 64-bit to Windows 7 Professional 32-bit

I recently purchased a new Dell with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit; however, some of the programs I have need a 32-bit operating system. I tried Windows XP mode; however, I do not like how this works. Would it work for me to install Windows 7 32-bit on that computer with the CD I have or am I required to purchase a new Windows 7 with a new key for 32-bit.

Thanks.

The depends upon the source of the CD that you have.  Since you already have a legal product key, what you can do is download the same version's ISO image from Microsoft's retail partner, Digital River:

Download Official, Original and Untouched Windows 7 RTM with SP1 ISO

Burn it to a DVD-R, install Windows 7 32-bit with your pre-established product key, and you should be all set.

Are you sure about that?  Most 32 bit programs now work on 64 systems unless very old.  And, if not, then I wonder if they will even work on Win 7 32 bit.
Do not forget that if you right click on the .exe (or shortcut) for a program and then Properties, the Compatibility tab allows you to choose the operating system on which to run a program.
Also, check out the compatibility info on
