Looking for a 10" - 15" digital picture frame with wi-fi to which I can email pictures

I'm in Ottawa, Canada and would like to buy a big (10-15") digital picture frame with wi-fi that I can install in my elderly mother's home in Vancouver and then email pictures to it.

It seems like the digital picture frame with wi-fi has gone the way of the dodo bird. Both Henry's and Visitek in Ottawa claim that they no longer stock them because they have been made redundant by tablets. Is this true? If so, are there any tablets (10" or larger) that can be configured to act as a picture frame? I need something that is wall mountable and after initial setup, will require absolutely no interaction with my mom except to turn on the power.

This looks like it do exactly what you want:  http://www.amazon.com/Kodak-10-Inch-Digital-Address-Immediate/dp/B003WOLOLK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344399079&sr=8-1&keywords=wireless+digital+picture+frame

Note, however,  that (a) Amazon only has 6 in stock;  and (b) there's a note that Kodak is exiting this market, so you won't be able to buy more unless you can find existing inventory -- BUT they intend to continue to support the Pulse network, so you should be able to use the frame for as long as you want (providing, of course, that it still works).

I may just have to go that route.

One item that caught my eye, seemed to do everything I wanted and had recent blog entries and signs that it's alive was the Pix-Star FotoConnect XD 10.4'' (4:3) WiFi - Email - UPnP:

http://pix-star.com

They don't sell the product in Canada and suggest looking on eBay. I did but couldn't find any. Amazon.com have it listed but it currently says (Aug 7, 2012) "Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available."

http://www.amazon.com/Pix-Star-PXT51WR02-FotoConnect-Digital-Picture/dp/B0056HNTAU/
Yes, the pix-star looks like it does the same thing as the Kodak Pulse unit -- you can set it to get its pictures from the web album; and then manage the web album from my PC.

I presume you've thought of this -- but does your elderly mother have a computer and a WiFi enabled router in her home?     Both of these (the pix-star and the Kodak Pulse) require a WiFi network to connect to.

She's well equipped (laptop, all-in-one desktop in the kitchen and an iPad) and has wireless.

She has an old picture frame in the living room but the USB stick plugged into it hasn't been updated in years.
Here's another one you could look at, has good feedback and supports what your looking for

At over $1,700 they better be nice!
Oh!! I didn't see the price.
Still they are sold out.
But always do your research if the product is proven then it's worth it.
Well there is alternatives to get your thinking juices flowing.
Like an Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation),  that could be wall mounted

With iCloud, when you take a photo on one device, it automatically appears on all your other devices. No syncing. No sending. Your photos are just there. Everywhere you want them.
Take a photo on an iOS device. Or import a photo from your digital camera to your computer. iCloud automatically pushes a copy of that photo over any available Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection to the Photos app on your iOS devices, iPhoto or Aperture on your Mac, and the Pictures Library on your PC.
You can even view your Photo Stream album on your Apple TV.

Just bumping the post to keep it alive to see if anything has changed over the year.

My mission is to be able to put up a flat panel (15 inches or so) on my mother's kitchen wall and send pictures of the grandchildren (and great grandchildren) to it. Her only interaction with the device would be the power switch. Any configuration would have to be accomplished remotely.

This year I picked up a Motorola frame with WiFi and with a bit of messing about, was able to get it to download pics from my flickr account. Motorola used to have a service where you could email pictures directly to the frame but they (like all of the others it would appear) shut it down.

This device is too complicated to setup and will likely get confused by future versions of flickr so I'm still looking for an interesting solution.

I think the frame manufacturers panicked (like everyone else) when the tablet exploded onto the market and figured that their offerings would be made obsolete as everyone would opt for a "smart frame" aka tablet (a digital picture frame is a dumb-frame).

So I guess I'm now looking for a 15" smart-frame, perhaps running Android. Or maybe Apple will release a 15" iPad that I could affix to her wall.
A bit "out of the box" ... but you could hang a flat screen monitor on the wall, connect it to a very small form-factor PC; and simply have the PC run a slide-show of images.

You could set the PC up for LogMeIn ... and you could log in at your leisure to update the set of pictures in the slide show.

You could have it boot directly to a slide show program;  or simply set a screen saver slide show and set the screen saver to come on almost instantaneously (e.g. 1 second).

Something like these would work:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883103851

Actually, you can still get 15" displays (used, but that shouldn't matter):

I thought about doing it with an all-in-one Atom a few years back. I'm still hoping for something more purpose-built.
Hello ou81aswell
It seems to be heading towards to windows phones  Tablets quite superior with photos and email/send them to the apps or smart device.
take a look at these for ideas from Cnet this one caught my eye, I get these emails and was reading it when I saw your post.
DIA Parrot by nodesign
The DIA Parrot frame, brought to you by the same enterprising folk who designed the Parrot AR.Drone, is about to make the photo frame cool again — even if the spacebar was still broken when it came around to naming rights.

As for the frame's specifics, this is where things start to get much more interesting. Like a lightbox, the transparent 10.4-inch screen is suspended in front of a light source so that light passes through the image. You can connect via USB, SD cards, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and for those still sitting on the fence, this photo frame has apps. Holidays 2.0 takes you through a scenic tour of the world via Google Maps and works with geotagged images from compatible cameras allowing for custom journeys to be created.

Using a modified version of Android, the DIA can connect to the internet to download additional apps, get an e-mail address and send images to Picasa and Flickr. Despite its Google OS ways, the DIA is compatible with MoverLite (from the Apple App Store), a transfer app for exchanging data over Wi-Fi.

It appears to be a big fat hassle to get these things in Canada.

Bumping to keep this one alive.
It seems to be an equal pain to find them in the US.    I followed the links to their supposed points of sale ... but the e-commerce link leads to a site that no longer sells them;  and the "store" links led to a store in Dallas (I'm in Texas) that doesn't have them either.

Too bad ... it looks like a really nifty digital frame -- it'd be perfect to send one to my elderly mother set up with an e-mail address that we could update the pictures with.
Buy from overseas online if possible, and just invest in a universal power adapter.
I get round this problem of power with this adapter
