GMAIL outlook client

one of my client's are using Google apps as a mail host... all are receiving mail without errors but on one user account getting the following error message while he's busy working he machine...
-Your IMAP server wants to alert you to the following: Web login required (Failure)
- Symptoms; IT will continuously prompt for a username and password even thou we enter the correct newly created password.

followed these reasons, no avail...
Reason 1:
Google, like any other email provider protects the system against automated bots, scripts and probable abusing the account activity for sending spam messages. Because of any abnormal activity (unusual bandwidth utilization) from your computer, Google might suspect it as a spamming activity, hence IMAP server require authentication.

Reason 2:
If you are checking your email too frequently or sending email messages to a very large number of recipients, Google may again consider it as spamming and ask you to authenticate again.
To this writing, Google recommends to set mail client to check for new messages not more than once every 10 minutes.
no avail

can any assists, really needs to be done,
I've read about the; The only way to solve It now, is by clearing the CAPTCHA. But, i want to be 100 percent sure

Since you mention IMAP, I assume they're using IMAP in Outlook. Which version of Outlook? Is Outlook fully updated (latest service pack and hotfixes)?

What level of Google Apps do they have? Just the free one? The pay version has a sync program for Outlook that works much better than IMAP.

Has the user even logged into Google Apps Gmail via the web?

On the Gmail website, in settings -> Forwarding and IMAP tab -> IMAP access, there's an option to enable or disable IMAP. Is this enabled on that user's account? If yes, try disabling, saving, then re-enabling.

Look i can suggest few things for you to check and try to resolve the issue.

1. Start -> Run -> Control keymgr.dll (check if there is any cached entry if so make a note and preferably remove it).

2. Is the version of Outlook\Windows updated likewise other clients ??

3. What if you create a new Outlook profile for the user ?

4. Hope you have AV on the machine and its updated and do a full scan to check for any Virus.

What other IMAP devices is the user using to connect to Google Apps?  iPhone, iPAD, home computers, etc?

Google limits the number of concurrent IMAP Sessions as a security measure and each device will, at times, have more than one connection.   We recommend, therefore, that IOS devices use the ActiveSync connection and the Outlook users run Google Apps Sync for MS Office (GASMO), which uses the MAPI protocols.

So we meet again and "Happy New Year"

- Rancy
likewise, thanx
hi experts,  I came to a conclusion that this has something to do with  imap limitations
@marsilies and @rancy... google  apps seems to be solution that everyone suggest.

problem
- I have a unix based freebsd server the block google apps... what ports does it use..
I mean, g-app will try to contact it's server before once downloaded but fails
- how do I open these ports? newbie to freebsd
- some suggested, gasmo tool... what's that? - I'll google
see attatched, error:
Untitled-Error.jpg
Ideally due to low IMAP connections default 32 or whatever connection limit on the server isnt closed and causes disconnection .... What addons do you have in Outlook ?

- Rancy
Strange think is. This is only configured on the cellphone and the laptop- outlook... I'll verify the add-on. Is there a google support team I can ask for assistance? Live chat
Not that i know and these Public site supports dont give proper support so thats why if ever someone asks me .... In-house or Hosted i will support In-house always (rest my profile will explain more)

- Rancy
Google Apps for Business (aka paid for Google Apps) does have official support from Google via email and phone.

In order to access it, log into a Google Apps administrator account and go to the Dashboard (from gmail, click on Settings, then "Manage this domain"). Click on the Support tab. You should see a link to  Enterprise Support Center for email support, as well as a phone number, account number, and pin for phone support.

Note, Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook doesn't use IMAP. Instead, it uses Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) for its connection, which may be the issue.

thanx, I'll check it out and keep you posted...
seems like we're going to replace the proxy server, no positive answer from google
Have you attempted an IMAP unlock/captcha?
Yes we did that in one of the fist troubleshooting steps. No avail.
just waiting on a plan forward
