Exchange 2003 - Recipient Policy isn't generating a report to end user

We have an active directory user account that's purpose is to receive e-mails from our ERP system that we can look through at a later date.  However, I'd like to control this mailbox to a degree.

My thought process is we'd like to cap the e-mail retention at 30 days on this user, alone.

We are using Exchange Server 2003 SP2

I've attached a screenshot of the properties of the recipient policy that I'd like to generate a report.  However, when I apply the policy, I never receive a report within that user's mailbox.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Couple of points

To run mailbox management immediately, follow these steps:

==> Right Click on Recipient Policy and click on Apply
==>  Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
==> In the left pane of Exchange System Manager, expand the Servers object.
==> Right-click the server that you want to process, and then click Start Mailbox Management Process.

Since we only have roughly 125 mailboxes on this server, would running that during the day impact performance?
Not much.

Wouldn't this generate a report into that specific users' mailbox?  I received the standard report we receive when we process the mailboxes.  The information related to this user:

My ultimate goal is to ensure if setting a cap to 30 days is enabled on this mailbox and that it isn't affecting anyone else.  The filter appears to be correct.

I don't see a line that specifies the "Recipient Policy: SQL Reporting Services"
That is cause you'll need to select that the report to be sent to the user and not administrator

Read the following link: and read step #20.

Thanks.  I think I'm experiencing an issue that's causing some of this headache.

When I'm looking at the properties of the recipient policy, I click modify to add a filter, and I receive the attached message when attempting to add the user.

It appears that it isn't querying AD correctly.

I think I found a way to solve this problem but it may require that I restart the server or even more desperate tasks to resolve that issue.  =(

You are choosing a user name where as the pop up window is for choosing an exchange server

Based on these screenshots, I think my policy is setup correctly.  It's pulling the correct user account that needs to be managed.  The checkbox to send a message to the user has been selected.  I applied the policy and then ran the Mailbox Management Process.  Still no love.

Thanks for the heads up on the other issue.  Wasn't paying enough attention.

You notice anything strange?  I know the higher priority policies aren't attempting to manage the "Inbox" or "All Other Mail Folders".

Change the size of email from 1 Meg to Any, start the policy from the server and monitor the event viewer for start and end of the process.

Alright, I changed the Inbox and All Other Mail Folders to Any -- re-applied the policy -- ran the task.

Same result.

Here is a screenshot of a bunch of error's i'm seeing.  This appears to be for a slew of disabled accounts and secondary mailboxes that folks use for dual "send on behalf of" e-mail addresses.  Nothing seems to be associated with the recipient or the policy.

Please run EXBPA to ensure RUS and recipient policy isnt having any issues .... if so we would be able tow ork and fix the issue.

Here is the output of EXBPA.

Someone has prep'd the environment for E27 or E2k10. Anyways, can you please copy paste Event id 8329?

I prepped the environment for E2k10 as that's one of our next projects.

I've attached the screenshots as requested.

I dont see any RUS even in the EXBPA ...

The last 8329 .... event shows that SQL account has been updated.

Well my friend you've started a long long process. You'll need to wait for RUS to complete. Basically, what you've done by rebuilding RUS - you've asked it re-stamp all the objects in AD with Exchange related attributes (i.e email address and mailboxes etc).

Now, it depends how long it will go through each and every object and then re-stamp it.

What initiated the rebuilding of RUS?
I couldn't have done sitting 2500+miles away :) of course some one who has access to the console there.

Regards,
Exchange_Geek
This process has to manually done ... so maybe somebody instead of doing an Update on the RUS selected or hit for Rebuild.

- Rancy
I'm the only administrator with access and i know i haven't even opened that ou in ESM.  I'm incredibly tentative when working on exchange.

Hope users are selected in that Mailbox manager policy and it runs on them.
