how to stop downloading old emails while reconfiguring pop3 email account

Dear Experts,

i am going to reconfigure one pop3 email account, i have a backup of same account as pst file, but the problem is all emails start downloading again. how can i stop this?

I know that if i move emails from inbox to some other folder or deleted items it will not download them, but i dont want to move them from inbox.

looking forward for your kind replies.

What exactly are you trying to do?

Only way to stop downloading emails from pop3 is to disable Receive on the client, but hard to figure out what exactly you are trying to do in the first place?

Thanks for your quick response, actually i have reinstalled windows on some users, i did export their old emails on the pst file, now after reinstallation of windows i am configuring their outlook with pop3 account, somehow i want not to download old emails that are available in pst file, is there a way that i give that pst file and it will not download those emails?

BTW i am using outlook 2007

Also POP3 emails are normally REMOVED from the server when downloaded - so you must be leaving them on the server for some reason I assume?
