Hello. Can you tell me the error code provided by the error? I can think of one of the most common. Check out this guide http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100

zalabea--What was the source of the installation file?  MS offers several. For example

Try installing .NET Framework 4.0.  A later version than 3.5 usually works.

zalabea--Actually, if .NET Framework 4.0  is already installed, you will find it in Control Panel|Programs and Features under Microsoft.  You do not have to click "Turn Windows Feature on or off".

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 is in the "Turn Windows Features on or off" window.  Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 is in the regular Programs and Features window.
