Could not add USB device (unavailable)

I tried to configure USB for a VM but could not add USB device. I added USB controller already. the vMotion is not available because of the  licensing. Does this cause the issue?
Could you assist me with this issue.
Thanks,

The lack of vMotion feature does NOT impact USB Passthrough.

USB Passthrough works on FREE ESXi with no vMotion.

Upgrade HP firmware, download and use the HP VMware ESXi version, check logs.

Do the usb ports work on the server?

use VM Direct Path as a workaround?

all has been discussed in previous question.

download the HP Smart Start firmware DVD in the DVD drive, Restart Server, BOOT from DVD select Automatic, it will update ALL firmwares, very simple.

this is how we used to complete USB attachment to VMs, before USB Passthrough.

VM Direct Path see here

for VM DirectPath, I go Configuration > Hardware > Advanced Setting, I see the Configure Passthrough  is gray out. Do you know why?

Server does not support VM Direct Path. Not all servers do, and the G5 is rather an old server today, most out of the initial 3 year warranty now.

You could check BIOS, and complete firmware updates

When I plug the USB flash drive to the host, the VM is able to see the flash drive.
