CMS for Hikers

I need a CMS like wordpress or Drupal or TikiWiki CMS/Groupware
for a Hiking Club.

They want to allow members to register and they can each post  their calendar ,
post their pictures and post information.  others can see their postings.

Looking for a out-of-the-box solution.

Willing to pay for addons if needed.

WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, etc. can all do what you ask and mostly do it out of the box.  You might need to add a free plugin/module or two to get it exactly like you want but you're not asking for a whole lot.

Need a direct answer.
what CMS
what plugin.
Can't give you a completely direct answer, the question is too broad and too much depends on variables I'm not aware of.  I'll do my best below.

If you want my opinion on a CMS, use WordPress.  It has the best combination of ease of use, features, and developer community. If you aren't familiar with using self-hosted WordPress, I would also steer you to using specialized WordPress hosting such as WP-Engine.  They handle some of the more technical details like security and backups.

That being said, Joomla and Drupal will also work fine.  If you can, install all three and see which one you like best.  A lot of it comes down to personal preference.

For registration and login, you can either use the built-in functionality or add a plugin like Theme My Login to make it a more seamless experience.  If you are going to charge for membership, totally different story and opens a different universe of plugins.  To make sure people can post things, you would default WordPress to accept registrations as Author or Contributor.  Authors can self-publish, Contributors can only make information "Pending" and an Administrator or Editor level user would have to make the final click to publish.

When you say "post their calendar" what are you envisioning exactly?

Posting images can be done via normal WordPress Media Uploads and attaching the image to a post.  If you are talking about allowing users to create galleries, you are again in a different place and I would need more information about exactly what you are trying to do so I can tailor a recommendation.

I covered posting information already, unless you meant some other form of information?
Are you hosting this yourself or using a provider?  If you are using a provider, do you have one already?  The reason I ask is because there are some hosting services that make setting up Joomla, WordPress, or Drupal very easy.  You could prototype all three and see which you liked best.  BlueHost, for example, has one click installs of these that would have the site up and running in less than 10 minutes, and for less than $10 per month.  You could explore all three that way and then pick the one that works best for your particular needs.  Set up a BlueHost account, install all three, and give them a test drive.
