installing epson nx420 in xp

been trying to install my epson nx420 printer on my xp machine but doesnt get recognized and wanted to find out correct procedure for doing this.  I usually can just browse for the printer which is a network printer and see it on my other xp and windows7 pcs but for some reason having problem with this one.  When i add printer do i select local or network?  I know in windows7 i had to select local and create the local port then input the ip address and was able to see printer but not case with this particular xp machine.  Any ideas?  thanks

is it connected by USB?
then do NOT connect the AIO, but install the software first - connect the printer only when asked for
(if you didid this already, uninstall all software first)

>>   When i add printer do i select local or network?  <<  that depends on how you want to install it  - as a local printer, or a networked one
The nx420 has wifi network capability. If you are using that, you need to install it as a local printer. When asked for the port, create a new Standard TCP/IP port with the printer's IP address. Then continue the installation.

You should give the printer a fixed IP address, rather than let it use DHCP. With DHCP the printer is likely to get a different IP address at some time in the future, and that will stop it from printing. See this manual for wifi setup:
