Microsoft Terminal Services Gateway Server stops working after a restart
I restarted my Terminal Services Gateway server which is running on Windows 2008. On restart, I receive a message that MMC could not create the Snap-in when I try to look at Server Manager, Terminal Services Configuration or even my event viewer. Under services, I am unable to start the 'Terminal Services Gateway'. I get error 1068 and refernce to dependency services not starting, but all the other Terminal services related services have started so not sure which dependency service is stopping TSG from starting or stopping any of the MMC from loading.
I have checked and all dependency services have started except World wide web publishing services, which itself is unable to start because another dependency service Windows Process Activation Service is reporting error 50: The request is not supported.
I have restarted this server in the past and nothing like this has ever happened.
Thank you

There seems to be a problem with the Server 2008 software on this server as I cannot even do windows update or install any services or browse the internet from the Server.
I will reinstall the OS and see if it allows me otherwise it reboots about three times , tries to install Terminal Services each time but fails, then gives up trying.

In eventviewer, I see Event ID 5189 "The Windows Process Activation Service failed to generate an application pool config file for application pool '*'. The error type is '0'. To resolve this issue, please ensure that the applicationhost.config file is correct and recommit the last configuration changes made. The data field contains the error number."
Event 5172 ; The Windows Process Activation Service encountered an error trying to read configuration data from file '\\?\C:\Windows\Microsoft.
'. The data field contains the error number."
Event 5036 The Windows Process Activation Service received a change notification, but was unable to process it correctly. The data field contains the error number.
Event ID 5005 "Windows Process Activation Service (WAS) is stopping because it encountered an error. The data field contains the error number."
These does appear to be an issue caused by the latest windows update which probably did not apply correctly. I will remove the windows update applied just before the restart and see if anything changes.
