Writing a tweet in Twitter causes IE8 to hang

We have a few users using Twitter to market our company, and they are using IE8.  Some times, but not always, when they are writing new tweets or replying to current ones, IE8 hangs, and they cannot type any more, or do anything with IE.  And they have to force it to close.  If they let be be for a while they get the error message detailed in this MS article...

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/175500

I've tried doing what they say there and just provide a pretty much infinite timout.  Doing this stops the error from appearing but it sill hangs.  However, now, if they leave IE for long enough it does eventually start working again, and they can continue writing their tweet.

Do I need to change IE policy to be less strict?

But thing is, even when they can write a tweet without it hanging, their keystrokes do take about a second to sppear on screen.  So something definitely isn't right.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Quite often, IE stability issues are caused by an add-on.  Try starting it without any add-ons and see if the problem persists:

Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)

If that method works, try opening IE using the standard shortcut and troubleshoot your add-ons by navigating to Tools -> Manage Add-ons and disabling them one at a time to narrow down which one is causing the problems.

If the problems still persist when you use Internet Explorer (No Add-ons), try performing an Internet Explorer reset:

Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced tab -> Reset Internet Explorer settings and click the Reset button.
