I get external email and internal email just fine. I can send out local email, but not external. I get this after a few minutes.

   Error Type: SMTP
   Connection to recipients server failed.
Error: Host name: 173.194.77.26, message: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it
this was going to a gmail account.

Assuming that you are in an Exchange environment, it's possible that your SMTP relay server (which could be your Exchange server) is flagged as an open relay server and as such the target SMTP server is rejecting anything coming from your SMTP server.

It's also possible that the name that your server gives during the SMTP session doesn't match the name that your server's IP address resolves to in DNS.

Is your firewall /A/V software configured to let hmail make outgoing connections?
Check ports 25, 465 & 587 are allowed.
