Is the NIC on the hardware compatibility list, is there a VMware ESXi driver for it?

Check the VMware HCL (Hardware Compatability Lists) here

http://www.vmware.com/go/hcl

what is the nic?

If there is a driver available, the VIB is uploaded, and installed using

esxi software vib install

Okay, you may need to download additional NIC drivers from VMware or Fujitsu website.

you need to upload the driver (vib file which is probably a zip) file to your ESXi host using WinSCP.

http://winscp.net/eng/index.php

then use the following command, and reboot the ESXi host server

esxcli software vib install -d /vmfs/volumes/[DATASTORE]/[PATCH_FILE].zip

the path is incorrect to the patch update file.

all you need is

-d /vmfs/volumes/bundle.zip

make sure bundle.zip is in /vmfs/volumes
