possible to have an AJAX popup when user hits page back/forward in browser?

is this possible? i dont want to use javascript and AJAX toolkit is preferred.
ModalPopup only works with a button? anyone got an example?

Your post does not make sense you say you don't want to use Javascript but you want to use AJAX?

A modal popup on landing is possible using javascript - you put the trigger in the document ready event.
