Dreamweaver Spry Validation Phone Number

I've created a form to update a customer record using Dreamweaver and ColdFusion.

When the customer logs on, they are presented with a screen pre-populated with their personal information, such as address and phone number.

I've set the phone number field up using spry validaiton in US/Canada format (000) 000-0000.

If the field is empty, and the customer starts typing in it, it automatically applies the correct formating.

The problem is, if the record came up pre-populated with a phone number - if they click in the box, it automatically apends a "(" to the right of the text and marks it "invalid format".

This is a problem with Spry and Adobe has never resolved it.  I would suggest you switch to the Validation plugin for JQuery to get better functionality:
