Hello Experts,

I installed Oracle 11g express edition. It was installed successfully.

But when I logged in then I get the below :

SQL*Plus: Release Production on Tue Aug 14 20:56:26 2012

Copyright (c) 1982, 2010, Oracle. All rights reserved.

Enter user-name: sys as sysdba
Enter password:
Connected to an idle instance.

I cleared all my event log from my windows machine.
Checked my >echo %ORACLE_HOME%:
output: C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server

Even checked my Regedit : the values is been set to same oracle

When loged in again and check still I am getting the same issue.

Need urgent help to resolve this issue,

    Accepted Solution

The Service isn't running and/or the database is down.

Check to see if the Service is running.  If it is, check the alert log to see why the database isn't starting.

    Services are running.
But I see few errors on my alert log :

AUD: OS Error = 1502 encountered while writing audit record

    Assisted Solution

    Based on this post:

It appears to have something to do with the event log.  It links to a note with some more information.  I have no idea if that is relate to Oracle not starting, but that seems to be what the error points to.

If you cleared out ALL event logs, do you have free disk space?

@slightwv : Yes  I did and I have enough free space.

Let me uninstall it again and re-install again and check.

After re-installing oracle XE solved my problem but still I am not sure what caused this issue.

Even I was having enough disk space.
