Alternative for Yahoo! Local search API

I wrote an application that uses the Yahoo! Local business search by category to show competition in a given area.  The problem is that sometimes the businesses aren't listed or they are categorized incorrectly.  Since this is a free service, Yahoo! doesn't quickly correct these incorrect listings.   Is there an alternative to this kind of search that has properly vetted results and up-to-date listings?  It would be nice if it was free...but I'm assuming it wouldn't be (which is OK).
