JSTL example eclipse error

Hi,

I was trying to run following example in eclipse after downloading the source code of JSTL-Loop.zip project.
http://www.java2s.com/Code/Java/JSTL/JSTLConditionalSupportSimpleConditionalExecutionExample.htm
When I go to file--import---Existing Projects into workspace--next---select archive file(second radio button) getting error like 'No projects found'

Any ideas, suggestions, sample code, links, source code highly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Probably because it's not an Eclipse project, since it doesn't have Eclipse-specific files. You will need to create a new project using that source

You can try the following...

Right click on your project in eclipse --> Import --> Select "Archive file" in General --> Select the archive file by clicking Browse --> finally, select the files that you want to import.

Suggesting you to take a backup of your existing project prior to doing this.

I created the empty dynamic webproject called JSTLLoop. (project-->new-->dynamic webproject---give name JSTLLoop ---Finish). I
Right click on your project in eclipse --> Import --> Select "Archive file" in General --> Select the archive file by clicking Browse --> finally, select the files that you want to import

I see project structured is messed up as in attachment. Please advise.

The files in the download project are not organized in a standard J2EE way that means eclipse may confuse to understand the resources. But I can see an ANT build (build.xml) is provided there and working fine.

If you right click (from inside the eclipse) on the build.xml and select "Run As -> Ant Build" then it will create a .WAR file.

This war can be deployed in a web server to see the output.

Please ensure you have below directory. If not, then create manually.
btw, this directory is there in the download ZIP

C:\eclipseHelios_workspace\JSTLLoop\JSTL-Loop\src\WEB-INF\classes

check to see that classes is not a read-only folder... if its read only, the build wont be able to create the classes there

I checked. I removed read only. Still it is not generating classes. It is again going back to read only after some time. Please advise

Are you still getting the same error? try to see if WEB-INF is not read only as well..

Also are you logged in as "admin" to your machine? sometimes your profile may not have access...

by looking at the error its not the java problem, its either your environment or your build file..

if you can paste the contents of your build.xml file it will help too.
