VPN connection established but no access to local network

Hello,

I am at the end of my knowledge.

I can establish a tunnel connection between the client software and the router. I also can visit the router WRVS4400N from outside. But i cannot enter the LAN behind the router, no ping, no connect to the server.

i guessed there are two possibilities for the problem, one is the configuration on the router and other is QuickVPN. After I compared QuickVPN with VPN CLIENT, I found that after I installed the VPN CLIENT, there is a network adapter appearing ( see attached picture), but for QuickVPN, there is no. So, I think the QuickVPN can not work well on my PC( windows 7 and windows xp ) just because of the network adapter. It’s QuickVPN problem. Anyone can help me to solve it.

If Quick VPN does not work because of your network adapter, then consider NCP Secure Entry (www.ncp-e.com). That is what I use and it works great. They have a 30-day trial so you can see if it works for you.

Quick VPN needs a certificate file from the router. You did get that and install it, I assume.

the NCP looks like a little complicated, and not work in my PC as well
NCP works reliably on my computer (Windows 7) and client computers (XP and Vista). So there may be something wrong with your computer.

What OS is it ? And try running System File Checker on it .

i guess NCP should work well. The reason i did not get it worked is that i did not find its manual in the web site.
I think it should work for you as well.

The software link is here:   http://www.ncp-e.com/en/downloads/software.html and on this page is the Quick Installation Guide link.

On this page:  http://www.ncp-e.com/en/downloads/library/manuals.html  is the manual.

In both cases you want the NCP Secure Entry Universal IPSec Client. You do not want the Juniper or Android client.

You should get a file like NCP_SecEntryClientWin_930_146. It may not be exactly like this because I add version info. But you should see Win_930 I think.

The download can be a ZIP or EXE. Unzip the ZIP to get the EXE. Then just run the EXE. There is not much to install. You need to be administrator and it is usually best to install in the userid you will use with Run as Administrator.

Strange answer indeed. I have used QuickVPN and is no easier than NCP and NCP works in all systems (XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8) and works through double NAT arrangements as well. ... Thinkpads_User
