Excel 2010 export to dbase

I use several versions of dBase, including dBase +2.8. Excel 2010 no longer supports export of table data to dBase. Has anyone come up with an easy method to export Excel 2010 data to any of the dBase products? And if there is a way, do the column headings become the field names after export?

I am aware of CSV.

Microsoft cancelled support for many of these file formats starting in Excel 2007 (2010 may have added a few more to the 'not supported' list).

I am not a dBase user, but if dBase will accept earlier versions of Excel, Excel 2010 is still capable of outputting to the Excel 95/5.0 file format as well as the Excel 97-2003 format.

Unfortunately dbase will not recognize the file structures.

Excel 2010 will export to a plain text file, including CSV.  dBase can import those, no?

Yes, CSV will work, but I was hoping to find a more direct method.

Well lets see now

I presume save as .xls and use Excel 2003 to save to dbf is a little clumsy!?

You could try savedbf (see http://thexlwiz.blogspot.co.uk/)

or perhaps XLSX2dbf (see http://www.softpedia.com/downloadTag/XLSX2DBF)

Good luck
