Problems with "SubForms" in InfoPath 2010

I got me a form

My form what post to my SharePoint Document list

I get me some data from that list for my DropDown.

I can even see what the ID of the selected item is (visible in the attached PDF in the
"Supervisor First Name" field). What I am having trouble with is retrieving
additional data about that record based on the ID selected. I'm not sure if I
should be using the [External Item Picker] control, or if I should be doing
something with the [Query using a Data Connection] rule action.  As you
can see in the [Supervisor Name] field, I am viewing the [Full Name]
field, which is simply the concatenated [First Name] and [Last Name] fields.
The "Value" of the DropDown list is the ID of the record. What I want to
happen is, the [Supervisor First Name] and [Supervisor Last Name] fields
populate with the respective values when the Supervisor is selected. Any
help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

    Accepted Solution

This is referred to as a "cascading dropdown"

If you search on you can find plenty of examples.

You also are going to need to learn filtering, this is part of it.

Thanks, ClayFox, you put me in the right direction. I went on to make a little set of ScreenShots that give better detail than what I found. This one focuses on the repeating tables. The next one I do will focus on individual fields that aren't connected to a repeating table.
