Server Memory Utiliation

If I have a server running Windows SBS 2011 Premium and the server has 48 gb of ram and as i understand it SBS 2011 has a memory limitation of 32 GB that is recognizes can an application running on this server utilize the other 16 gb of ram or is it limited to what the OS memory limit is?

The Windows OS limit for Standard edition is 32GB of RAM.  All Windows applications rely on the Windows memory manager, so you are limited to what the OS can use.

B_Denison is correct, if the OS does not recognize the other 16GB, then the applications will be unable to address it.

Upgrade the Server OS, or repurpose the other 16GB of memory into another server.
