Cant connect to server

I have a server (no DC or AD) that has had a SCSI mirrored hard disk fail.

I have renewed the failed disk but now I cannot log onto this server,  it says that "Windows Cannot connect to the domain, either becasue the DC is down or otherwise unavailable". It is not and I can connect from any computer in the domain, just a problem on this 2003 R2 Server.

Any ideas?

I think your AD services are not running. Boot in to Active directory restore mode and check for any messages regarding Active Directory. Remember that you'll have use your Active Directory restore mode password.

    Accepted Solution

If you can't log in with domain credentials, you should be able to login with local credentials and view the event log.

The event log should give you an indication of where the problem is.

If this is not an AD or DC server what is Active Directory Restore mode going to achieve?
