Biden as VP

There is no way at this stage that Obama would choose someone else as his VP, but do you think that he would, if he could?

Rate Biden's job performance in two areas:

1. As Vice President
2. As a surrogate for Obama

>>1. As Vice President

Just as good or bad as every other vice president. What do they do again? Not much they could do to mess this up.

>>2. As a surrogate for Obama

He is a mouthpiece for Obama campaigning and backs him on things. Again just like every other vice president. His recent gaffes are stupid especially the 'chains' one but whatever. He does the job to get Obama re-elected.

Crazy.  But a VP's job is nothing more than a figure head.  He really has no responsibilities, other than breaking a tie vote in the Senate.

Given he has no responsibilities, he's doing ok.

2. As a surrogate for Obama

Crazy, embarrassing, bumbling idiot, racist.  I think he's doing more harm than good.

Sources I heard mentioned that Hillary was in fact requested to join the ticket, but she didn't want to have to defend Obama's far left policies in 2016.

Here's the story.  Hillary told Obama no.

Hillary rejected VP slot to ready her own 2016 run
If elected, she didn't want to be tied to Obama's left-leaning politics in her own 2016 bid. Second, if Obama loses, she would be tarred as a loser.

...she didn't want to be tied to Obama's left-leaning politics...

Ok, where to start?

"...according to author Ed Klein."

Sketchy from the start as he has an agenda to sell his books and look like he is "in the know"

"Klein, whose book is No. 2 on the NYT bestseller list, quoted unnamed sources..."

Well that doesn't help building credibility at all. Unnamed sources suck.

"...top Obama aide Valerie Jarrett put the vice presidency on the table during a lunch with the secretary of state."

And she did this with others around? His supposed 'unnamed source'?

"Hillary told Valerie Jarrett that she was not interested in running as Obama's vice president."

I could have told you that. She doesn't want to be second fiddle to anyone.

"If elected, she didn't want to be tied to Obama's left-leaning politics in her own 2016 bid"

Here's your big quote. Because I'm sure that is exactly what I would say to the top aide of the President, especially if he was in my party. I wouldn't say something a bit less stupid, especially with all these other 'potential sources' around.

Does this sound at all like a conversation these two women would have? Why on earth would she say something like that to his top aid, even if she felt that was the reason? It makes absolutely no sense.

"She needs to lose weight and get her energy back for a four-year slog."

Nice that he threw in a fat joke at her too.

"...Obama was afraid she would turn him down and Bill Clinton would leak the snub to the media."

Why would you need Bill to leak it when there are all these 'unknown sources' that can do it whenever they want.

Do you believe everything you read as long as it fits your party's stance?

Bill likes'em beefy anyway.  She looks fine.

>>Why would you need Bill to leak it

Bill hates Obama.  Obama hates Bill.

I broke the article down into a bunch of points and explanations, then you come back with a sweeping generalization? How about addressing the points.

>>(2)  The story makes complete sense.  To question it is silly.

Question everything. It's the basis of science and discovery and learning. It's analytic thinking and how you smart people keep from falling for crap and being taken advantage of.

Not at all. I actually have just been saying it looks worse for him to hold back the taxes than it does to release them. I never actually questioned what was in them as it is pretty obvious. I believe they will show he did everything legal and got every break he could using every loophole he could.

Absolutely he did nothing wrong legally. Absolutely he will look terrible for the election from it though. That's why he is holding them, but he will release them I think now since he already tried to soften the blow stating he paid 13%.

It doesn't matter if Reid lied anyway. The truth is bad enough.

1.)  He's an idiot.  He's proven that over and over again.  The only reason he has a brain is to keep his ears from flapping but that doesn't work either.

2.)  I think 1 explains 2.

Obama's new slogan:

Hope and Chains, thanks to Biden.

or

You Didn't Build That.

Much, much worse for him to release.  Obama's team would crucify him in the public for being successful (Obama hates success).  That's the ONLY reason they want him to release his returns.

>>The truth is bad enough.

????

>>Hope and Chains, thanks to Biden.

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."

They will crucify him. They would be stupid not to if it would work. That's what this is all about. Winning the election. The GOP would crucify Obama for anything they can to win as well.

>>(Obama hates success)

That really doesn't matter. Obama isn't the one that is going to vote. The American people will. The American people hate the idea of millionaires using every single loophole and trickery, even though it is legal, to pay minimal taxes. That is what is in those returns. They hate the system and that it lets millionaires do this. Romney knows it is what he did and he will be crucified for it from the American people.

He didn't legally do anything wrong...but it just looks bad. I don't know why you guys argue this point. It's not Romney's success that is hated. It's that he pays half the tax rate of everyone else because of the way he can work the system. You really don't see that?

>>"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."

Yep. That was blatantly stupid. Is he a racist? Probably has racial prejudices, but not many white-bred politicians I think that don't. I think we already established that VP really doesn't do anything or matter much though.

If this was the case, then why was Sarah Palin treated the way she was during the 2008 presidential election if it didn't or doesn't matter who is VP?

I thought this myself when I wrote that line. Also it applies to how Paul Ryan is being scrutinized.

It's just because today we can. With 24-hour news coverage and the Internet of today, people need top continually talk about something,, so Ryan is the talk of the day and Palin was 4 years ago.  In addition Palin made herself an easy target with her gaffes and idiotic things she said in some key interviews.

You'd think that a man that's buds with terrorists, slum lords, and had a 20 year relationship with an anti-American pastor would get a little more attention, wouldn't ya?  Instead they focused non-stop on Palin's reading material.

I think I agree with Peggy Noonan, former Reagan speech writer:
If it had been a Republican vice presidential candidate who had made those gaffes, one after another, so comically, and all on tape, the subject today of the panel would be how stupid is this person, can this person possibly govern?

Meet The Press is an MSNBC show. This is supposed to be some kind of insight that MSNBC is liberal? FoxNews harping on this gaffe and ignoring the tirade of GOP gaffes is also supposed to be some revelation?

Romney campaign rejects Akin 'rape' comments, Democrats seize on interview | Fox News : http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/08/20/romney-rejects-akin-rape-comment/

That's not a misspoke. That's a "Holy Sh*t! I just said what I really thought" moment. Romney/Ryan were smart to immediately distance themselves from this guy.

Wow. They created a whole site just to play the victim card:

No.  Media in general.  Think about what the media would do if Palin made similar comments.

To deny a media bias, which I'm assuming you're alluding to, is silly.
