Master Detail Form On a single table - Apex

What do you want to get with master-detail form? There is Master-Detail form possibility in Apex developer, but how do you want it look like?
I don't really undestand the question as stated. Master/Detail forms are typically only used for a single table (or view). i.e., display records from a table then choose one record to edit.
