Outlook is slow when searching

The scenario is the user has a desktop at home with outlook 2007. The .ost file is 8.16 gb. I have advised the user that outlook will be slow/sluggish when the .ost file is that big. Any help/suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

i agree and have comminucated this to the user in many of our previous emails. I am unsure how to properly communicate this to the user in a way that can move forward with an archiving solution. Thanks for the response
I wish I could help on communicating it to the user convincingly but I encounter the same resistance on many occasions.   The best I can say is Outlook 2007 does have archiving built-in where it can offload items from the OST to a separate local PST file.  It's not hard to use and it just makes a separate folder under the user's inbox.  They can still find their items that way.  But still, the 2 GB limit applies even to archive PSTs.  Not sure if it's possible to have multiple archives.
