Trouble Applying 2008 R2 Group Policy to Windows 7 Wireless Laptops

Posted on 2012-08-16

Setup:  Windows 2008 R2 domain with Window 7 x64 wireless laptops using the built in Windows wireless configuration utility.

We have an issue with some of the laptops / user accounts not getting user GPOs applied with running GPUPDATE.

What are the best practices for applying GPOs to Windows 7 connected via wifi?

How do clients authenticate to the wireless?
If they authenticat using PSK - try setting the wireless settings to single sign and make sure logon to the network will happen prior to login.
or do cliens authenticate using 802.1X ?
