Adobe error

I generally have no trouble opening pdf files sent to me as attachments to emails.

With two exceptions. Adobe opens, then displays "Cannot Render Page". One of these is important to me.

Help > About shows my adobe as: 2008 v

When I rest my mouse over the troublesome downloaded file, it says "Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Document".

I tried looking for an upgrade. has a banner on top saying "Domain Name Expired".
But there are a number of free downloads there.

I don't want to screw up what I have, so I didn't click on any of them.
I need some guidance.
Thank you.
