Direct Booking is double booking conference rooms

I have migrated over resource mailboxes from exchange 2003 to 2010.  Direct booking and conflicts in exchange 2003 were successfully rejected.  Now however in exchane 2010 direct booking with conflicts are accepted and get booked.  Why?  Is there anything I can do to prevent this?  We have specific users assigned to scheduling certain bigger board rooms for specific events so they need to be able to direct book - but if there is an existing meeting those should get rejected.
Am I doing something wrong.  Can somebody tell me that this is not doable and why?

This happens when spefic times are selected and even when all day event is selected.  Doesn't matter.

Okay, so doing a little more digging.  The solution is to book the room as busy at the top of the meeting notice.  In doing that the booking will then pop up with message stating the room has other booking and reject the meeting.

Direct booking sometimes has issue if its not working .... if youwant to have automated booking why not have .... Auto-Accept from Exchnage 2010 server side.

You will first have to remove Direct booking and the reenable it from the server .... also make sure this mailbox shows as "Room Mailbox" in EMC.

Hi Rancy,
Thank you for the quick reply.  The Auto-Accept is set on the server side and also not checked to Allow Conflicting Meeting requests.  This works when I book a resource from my calendar and add in the resource and send.  I get the pop up.  However if i go directly to the room to book and book an event the same time as another event.  The calendar accepts it and does not bounce back with an error.
So if I remove direct booking and readd this should fix the issue?  Is there a way to test with one calendar?  Can you provide those steps?

However if i go directly to the room to book and book an event the same time as another event.  The calendar accepts it and does not bounce back with an error - This is an issue as its not the normal way so if this is being done its like Owner\Calendar rights so the Calendar will not work as it isnt processed by the server rather just an entry in the Mailbox :(

If you manually book a meeting on the room it isnt a normal way and there isnt a mechanism to stop it.

Looks like the issue is just when you book a room for all day only.  The pop up is appearing for specific times if there is a conflict.  But not on Calendar events booking for all day.  I need to do some more research on that.  Have you had any issues with that?

If its only with All day maybe need to check for attributes within "get-mailboxcalendarsettings" and try to play with something ...... but if its Auto-Accept from the server it should ideally decline as there is a conflicting meeting

May if its happening its interesting :) ...... Dont have Lab but can try on my E2k10 environment :) .... also what is the SP on Exchange ?

Where are the mailboxes and the Room mailbox ?
Does the issue happen when using OWA ?
Does 2 emails show in users Sent items ?
If you dod a message tracking does it shows 2 emails from sender to recipient ?

Hi Rancy,
The user reporting the issue is on the same DB as the resource.  Mine is actually on a different DB.  Yes this happens in OWA as well.  Yes emails do show up in users sent items.

Is the issue happening with only this user ?
If so could be mailbox corruption ... try moving his mailbox to another Database and create new Outlook profile and check.
