Would the High Point 4 Channel PCI express x4 SAS Raid controller be compatiable with ESXI??

If so, how do you add the drivers for it to the install CD??

    Accepted Solution

If it's on the VMware HCL - YES, otherwise NO.

what is the exact model? do you have ESXi 5.0 drivers, in a vib file?

if drivers are available, they will be available as a VIB file, you upload the VIB file to ESXi server using WinSCP, and execute the following command

esxcli software install vib -d /vmfs/volumes/

/vmfs/volumes/ - is path to drivers (leave in the zip file, do not unzip!)

    i have a related problem.

i need a raid controller for my server running ESXi 5.1, but i dont know what to but. i dont want an expensive fancy model, just one for testing. i know that there is this compatible guide, but it only have some Xeon cpu compatible cards. And then i am a bit lost in the jungle..

can you recommend me an adapter.
    my requirement is:
    at least sata 2 (300)
at least 4 sata 2 ports
interface: Pci express 1 or 2 or 4 or 8
i would prefar: raid 5 if possible

    thanks a lot..
