Sharepoint 2010 On-line Pass-Through Authentication

Posted on 2012-08-17

I'm using MS Cloud SharePoint solution and one of the disadvantages is that it requires all tenants to use the exact same login page (no custom branding allowed).  I found some links using pass through authentication solutions (i.e., Claims-Based Authentication):

I basically would have my own login page and pass credentials through to SP for authentication.

Has anyone tried doing this to any success? Before I put forth the effort, I just wanted to know whether this was a lost cause or not.

    Assisted Solution

This would require access to the web.config file on your SharePoint server, which I doubt you can do.

So you are using Office365 and you want your users to authenticate via your Active Directory and pass those credentials through to SharePoint in Office365?

And all because you don't like the login page look and feel?

Not likely worth the effort, but if you are willing to purchase some servers and setup Federation between you and MS - swallow hard and start with

Thanks -- not worth the effort :-)
