Having trouble with opening a port on SBS2011
I'm in the process of migrating from SBS2008 to SBS2011. I'm having some sort of blocking issue on a couple of ports. I have a Netgear firewall inline.
For instance, port 21, when configured and pointed to the new server, does not open. but when you point it to the old server, it does.
Firewall is off and all AV are disabled.
Ideas?

Do you just edit the port 21 configuration on the netgear? Or die you start from the beginning of opening it?
Can you do a fresh configuration of the port on the firewall, and delete the old rule? Maybe you missed something.

I would assume you are trying to use FTP.. have you tried inside the network to verify the the port is open and rule out the server first?

Turns out the Firewall died. Replaced with a Sonicwall TZ200 and all is working properly.
Hope this helps someone else at some point!

Is the issue with all ports or just few ?
Did you try to enable the firewall on the W2k8 server and check ?
