AIX - Force login into console

After I login to AIX console, I get a warning saying user already logged into console and automatically get kicked off.  How can I override this and do a "force" login to the console? Or "kick off" the other user?

Login anywhere else as root and look for a login wth either tty0 (dumb terminal typical console) or lft0 for a graphical device. If you find it, get the PID and do a kill -9.

The other possibility is that the console was assigned to a device other than what you think is the console. Again login anywhere as root and do the following in SMIT

SMIT -> System Environments -> Assign the Console

This will show you what  is set as the console, and allow you to change it if you want.

Thanks for that info, but if I'm unable to login into the system at the time of trying to get into the console, is there a way to force to login to console?  The issue I ran into was the system was inaccessible and I was trying to get into the console in order to see what was going on, but was unable to get on the system.

Assuming the machine in question is not an LPAR - Reboot!

    (Press the yellow "Reset" button).

If you have nothing else than the console (particularly no network connection) and can't use it there is no other way.

Do you have any serial ports on this system? One of those might be set as the console.

Have you tried to login as any other user id? If that works you can su to root.

Reboot was my only option.  Thanks!
