Server Hung SID issues?

Hello EE,

I got a task to identify an issue with the server which when checked found unresponsive, this server is on remote location and in production environment, so task I could perform on it is limited.
What I have noticed is that the SID of this server is not unique and I have found the same SID on two different systems which are on network. Could same SID cause this issue?

What are the other options I have to investigate the unusual "server hang" on the system.

If you have servers with identical SIDs then I would look at a) Your deployment procedure because its wrong. b) Trashing one server and rebuilding it correctly.

There is ofcourse a chance that these might not be the ONLY 2 servers with the SID issue.

How do you deploy servers? From an Image that you DONT sysprep by the sounds of it :(

Thanks for the reply, however my questions were still unanswered.
Yes most likely it was issue from the cloned images which were later deployed, but I have recently joined this organization so what process they have followed I am not aware of it. But ofcourse the process was not correct.

Coming back to my original question -->
Q1. What are the impact of having more than one system with same SID on the same network?
Q2. Can we change the SID on the running/production system without affecting the performance and settings and configuration (in short without rebuilding the whole system)?

Answering my own question Q2. Using the following utility, I am able to change the SID on production systems without any issues.
