API to java application

I always find hard time following API and traslating it into working example or application. What are the things I need to know to do that. Any specific skillls I need to develop for that.

For example following API

http://www.docjar.com/html/api/org/apache/commons/io/IOUtils.java.html

I am not sure how can I make it useful for building simple java application which reads delimited text document.
Please advise.
Any ideas, suggestions, sample code, links, source code highly appreciated. Thanks in advance

You should be looking at the Javadoc to read the methods and their signatures and how you can use them to your own code rather than reading the class code as in your above link..

Same link,

http://www.docjar.com/docs/api/org/apache/commons/io/IOUtils.html

just IOUtils.html insead of IOUtils.java.html as in your original question.

You can also search thru google. For ex. for IOUtils, search for "IOUtils example".

I got the following link when searched in google.

http://commons.apache.org/io/description.html

Same thing may work with other APIs. Most of the time, you will get an example or some document.
