Cisco MPLS Routing Question

Hello Experts,

Can someone please take a look at my configuration and tell me why I can't ping from my loopback address 3.3.3.3 from sybase router to ip address 79.99.192.53 on the dialogic router. However, I can ping from 180.178.79.2 to 79.99.192.53 on sybase.

I have a default route on sybase.

I've tried redistributing the static route into BGP on sybase, but I still can't ping 79.99.192.53.

Below are some of the show commands.

sybase#show ip route

First, your network seems not be working properly because of routing reccursion errors on router Honkong.

*Aug 21 09:42:22.323: RT(sybase): delete subnet route to 79.99.196.0/29
*Aug 21 09:42:22.323: RT(sybase): del 172.72.7.0 via 180.178.79.2, bgp metric [20/0]
*Aug 21 09:42:22.327: RT(sybase): delete subnet route to 172.72.7.0/24

This is because the mask of network 180.178.79.2 are not matching on router sybase and honkhong so the route is looping.


To solve this issue:

hongkong(config)#interface FastEthernet0/1
hongkong(config-if)# ip address 180.178.79.1 255.255.255.252

With this fix, the ping is working

sybase#ping 79.99.192.53 source 3.3.3.3

Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 79.99.192.53, timeout is 2 seconds:
Packet sent with a source address of 3.3.3.3
!!!!!
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 88/106/116 ms
