By default, when flagging an Outlook item as for follow-up, a reminder is added. Can this be disabled so I can set reminders manually? The flag itself is sufficient as an alert for me in most cases.

One option is to right-click the message and then select Followup and then Custom. In the window that pops up, there is an option to set the flag and a checkbox for the reminder. If you uncheck the checkbox, you will not get a reminder.
