Spanish with muisetup.exe

hi, all. I have a bunch of older laptops that friends have given me for some kids in Mexico. I can't afford to buy Windows XP Spanish for each laptop, so I'm trying to find another way to make most things show up in Spanish.

I downloaded and installed this: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=22108  but it didn't change anything. I've gone to control panel, regional and languages and changed everything there.

I found muisetup.exe, and the only language available is English. I know this is an old OS, but I hoped someone could help me out! Thanks.

Your XP version must be professional if you want to install MUI

ok, this is tablet PC edition 2005. I guess I'll try it on some of the others, thanks. Is it ok if I keep this open? I'll find a PC with windows pro and try it out. Thank you.

Did you try LIP (Language Interface Pack)Win XP in Spanish?
http://download.microsoft.com/download/3/2/0/3201246f-317c-4b84-bf51-c49ce0e838f0/LIPSETUP.msi

You install Win XP in English and then LIP Spanish, then you switch in Spanish everything.

I'm installing now. Do they have those for all XP products? I think I will have several different XP OS's on these laptops.

Yes I see it now:
http://www.microsoft.com/es-es/download/details.aspx?id=1231

If you read here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/goglobal/bb688178

on "What are the system requirements of Windows MUI?"

"
MUI is an add-on to the English version of Windows XP Professional and Windows 2000 family of operating systems, and will not install on localized versions of Windows XP/2000 or on Windows XP Home Edition. Every additional language installed will require approximately 115 MB extra disk space for Windows XP, 45MB for Windows 2000; East Asian language support requires an additional 250 MB.
"

It seems that in your case with Win XP Home Edition you need new installation of Windows XP system. Will not accept a new language pack.
