Table of Contents in WORD not updating

Posted on 2012-08-20
Last Modified: 2012-10-22

I am using WORD 2003 - and have a template document with 2010 that is now being used by my 2003. When I create the document in 2003, the TOC does not update when emailing to a recipient - though I have updated the document before sending.

Suggestions and assistance are appreciated.

Thank you

What version of Word does the recipient use?
To open Microsoft Word 2010 .docx or .docm files by using Microsoft Office Word 2003, Word 2002, or Word 2000, the recipient needs to install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats and any necessary Office updates (Open a Word 2010 document in an earlier version of Word)

Your recipient will need to rebuild the table of contents. Select it (or click within it) and press F9; if manual formatting or edits have been done within it, have them choose the option to just recalculate the page numbers (rather than rebuild the ToC).
