I asked a question a few months ago about renaming a member server after migrating and the answer was yes you can.  Now I have the same question but this time it's the Domain Controller.  Are there any issues renaming the domain controller and changing the IP after i migrate from the old server?  I'm moving over AD from the old server.

I'm assuming the old server will be re'IPd and renamed also. As long as the old server doesn't have that name and IP then you can rename the DC.  Restart the netlogon server after you rename it so that it registers the DNS records again.

Thanks

Ok thanks!  yeah, I'll be decommissioning the old server and prob reloading it to boot so no worries there.

Thanks for the quick response!
