Can't boot from DVD to install OS
Posted on 2012-08-20
I have a Lenovo M91P which shipped with a 250GB IDE HDD preloaded with WIN 7. I then put in a 128GB Crucial M4 SSD, install WIN 7 and then format over the 250GB drive and use it for storage. I have never had an issue booting from a WIN 7 DVD and installing to the SSD.
Now, I am trying to install SBS 2011 Standard 64-bit just to try it out, but after beginning to boot from the DVD, it always stops and gives the following error:
I realize this means that some component isn't working correctly. But, if either hard drive is working, it should work even if the other one isn't working. I would think that the DVD player could be bad or the cables connected to it, but it does work in WIN 7, and it does allow the boot to start. Plus, I ran Memtest86, and it did fine in the DVD player as well as showed that the memory was good.
Just to be sure the DVD wasn't bad, I downloaded Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials. It also failed.
Any help would be appreciated.
